FUNDAY MONDAY!

Today we have been running our regular classroom programme.  In maths, some of us learnt the meaning of a two digit number (place value), some of us have been adding the tens in two digit numbers, eg 24 + 34 = 58 and some of us have been learning how to image numbers up to 20 to solve addition and subtraction problems.
Today for writing we have just started publishing our fantastic fairytales that we have been working really hard on.  We are really excited about turning our fairytales into books that others will be able to read!
Today for reading we have been working on becoming better readers.  Our triple blend for this week is 'SHR'.  Our poem this week is called 'I Hate Shrimps!'.
For topic we looked at the healthy food pyramid as part of our topic on 'Energise me!' - looking at how we can be the best we can be.  It is important for us to look after our bodies and we begin this unit by looking at what kinds of fuel is 'good fuel' for our bodies, and what fuel is 'junk fuel'.  We talked about how the very top third of the pyramid is where the 'junk fuel' food is - we should eat very little amounts of this kind of food (eg fish and chips).  The middle third is the food we should eat some of, eg milk, cheese, meat, fish.  The bottom third of the pyramid contains the food we should eat lots of - eg fruits and vegetables, wholegrain breads and pastas.
What a very busy and fun filled day we have had!
